The All Progressives Congress in Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State has adopted President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as their sole candidates for the presidential and governorship elections, respectively.
The endorsement took place on Sunday during a mega unity meeting of the APC held in Ughelli.
The gathering brought together political leaders and party faithful from across the federal, state, and local government levels.
The motion for the adoption was moved by the member representing Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, Francis Waive, who praised Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms and commended Oborevwori’s astute leadership and steady performance.
“In President Tinubu, we have a man who has demonstrated courage and foresight in addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges.
“And in Governor Oborevwori, we see a leader who is quietly delivering on the MORE agenda for Delta State,” Waive said.
The motion was seconded by a former House of Representatives member, Halims Agoda.
Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central in the Senate, subsequently put the motion to a voice vote, which was unanimously adopted by the attendees.
Also passed at the meeting was a vote of confidence in the leadership of Tinubu and Oborevwori, further cementing the district’s support for their joint re-election bid in 2027.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo (SAN), said the unity meeting aimed at strengthening intra-party cohesion and building a formidable political front ahead of 2027.
“President Tinubu is the most astute manager of Nigeria’s economy we have seen in recent history.
“His Renewed Hope Agenda aligns perfectly with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda—and together, they are bringing tangible results to the people,” Keyamo said.
He stressed that the meeting was not ordinary, describing it as a foundational moment for APC’s resurgence in Delta State.
“This is ‘Ukodo’ base. No other senatorial district could have initiated this kind of meeting.
“Since 1999, the Urhobo nation has never been this united. For the first time, I’m betting everything I have that Delta will deliver 100 per cent to APC,” Keyamo said.
The minister also revealed plans to replicate the unity meeting across all eight local governments in Delta Central, as well as at the ward and unit levels, urging leaders to press forward with courage and determination.
The APC State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, expressed appreciation to party supporters and commended Oborevwori and Keyamo for their roles in fostering unity.
“The essence of today’s gathering is not just to celebrate unity but to chart a way forward.
“Delta APC is stronger, more united, and ready to deliver,” Sobotie said.
The Chairman of the party in Delta Central, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, praised Oborevwori for what he described as “a bold and strategic political alignment” with the APC.
“The governor’s decision has reshaped Delta State’s political landscape,” Akpeki declared.
Other key speakers at the event included 2015 APC governorship candidate, O’tega Emerhor, Executive Director of NEXIM Bank, Chief Stella Okotete, the Chief Adviser to the Governor, Ighoyota Amori, and Ughelli North Local Government Chairman, Chief Jaro Egbo.
