It was a night of unforgettable moments at the Monarch Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, as entertainers and social media influencers showed up at their finest, to celebrate a woman whose name has become synonymous with luxury fashion, Ruth James, popularly known as Veekee James.

With the theme, “Veekee at 30: Grace & Glory” the birthday girl showcased energy in different shades. The award-winning designer did not just throw a party; she showcased an immersive style experience that was part runway, part performance art, and fully unforgettable with dance, music and food.

The decoration was another breathtaking view; transformed into a gold-drenched dream, complete with glowing balloons, dramatic lighting, regal chair arrangements, and oversized portraits of Veekee at every turn with every detail screaming celebration.

Some of the most talked about experiences at the soiree include her three outfits that portrayed class and elegance. First, she stunned in a floor-length, silver sequin strapless gown, glowing under the lights as guests gasped and photographers scrambled to capture her entrance. Later, she changed into a multicoloured sequinned dress for the highlight of the night.

The final look was a bold and chic short beaded mini dress by Prudential Atelier, which she wore for the after-party vibe.

The cutting of her 30-tier burgundy-hued birthday cake adorned with delicate flowers and intricate textures was also a moment that had the Ateres kissing and smiling with the guests cheering. According to James, the 20-feet tall cake cost N18m and was a show of how far she had come.

Another moment of the night that generated controversy was the “OG Talking Drum” hair suspension act, an aerial performance by a masked artist. The act blended aerial artistry with the beat of a sakara drum, danced to Lagbaja’s Konko Below, and wowed guests with a powerful visual and emotional message about identity and harmony.

Guests at the event include Enioluwa Adeoluwa (who won the best dressed male award), Nons Miraj (Best Dressed Female/N1m winner), Shaffy Bello, Toyin Abraham, Iyabo Ojo (who received an iPhone 16 pro max from actress Funke Akindele at the party), Peller, Jarvis, Osas Ighodaro, Simi Sanya, Uriel, Papaya Ex, Akin Faminu,  Folagade Banks, Broda Shaggy, Moses Bliss, Ibquake among others.

Earlier in the day, Veekee’s husband, Femi, had set the tone with a surprise floral and gift arrangement in their home, adding an emotional touch to what was already a fairytale evening.
